I admit it: I love paper! I love the feel of it, the color of it, and yes, even the scent of it...
There is nothing like opening a fresh notebook or a brand new book, so when I discovered iris folding, I knew I had found “my craft”!

Iris folding is a paper folding technique that originated in Holland. It is called iris folding because the center of the design, the part usually filled with a shiny paper, resembles the iris of an eye. Originally, old envelopes were used for iris folding. In Holland, the inside of envelopes came in all kinds of colors and many were printed with various patterns, such as stars, dots, stripes, and company logos. The paper was cut into strips, folded, and used to fill in simple or intricate cut out patterns. I use all kinds of paper, including hand made paper, rice paper, and origami paper. I also use ribbon and fabric. The cards are intentionally left blank inside, giving you the chance to add your creativity to the process.

Based on the successful acceptance of my greeting cards, it has been a natural progression to try iris folding in larger formats. You can see my FRAMED WORKS under the “Custom Cards” drop-down tab. Most of the works are 14” x 16” and were made especially for entry into juried exhibitions. Others were commissioned by individuals to give as gifts or for their private collections. Depending on the design, prices begin at $210.00 and delivery is usually four to six weeks. I am happy to work with customers on creating individualized designs or I can use one of the designs you see displayed. But because I am committed to making each piece unique, no two will be the same. This allows you to pick your own color scheme or, if you like how the original work was done, there will be some changes made, i.e., the selection of the particular papers I use. As I continue to enter work in art exhibitions, check the “News & Events” section to for dates and locations. Also, my framed work is being sold at various places (see “Where to Find my Cards” for location details.)
